Welcome to Cornell Abroad
We thank you in advance for your family’s participation in what is to be a very exciting experience. Your son or daughter is on the way to joining the ranks of over 10,000 Cornellians who have studied overseas since 1985. Study abroad alumni report that the experience has been a highlight of their Cornell undergraduate education.

In order to better support your son and daughter through the entire process of studying abroad, Cornell Abroad has prepared the Study Abroad Information for Parents packet which describes Cornell’s study abroad offerings; outlines administrative policies, costs, financial aid and the billing process; and gives attention to important matters such as the health, safety and security of study abroad students. Additional information available in the Information for Parents packet can be found in the left-hand side bar on this site, including: health insurance; passports and visas; student conduct and liability; withdrawals from a program; and support from Ithaca. Study Abroad Information for Parents is intended to complement Cornell Abroad’s Study Abroad Handbook which your sudent will receive at an orientation meeting.

Throughout your son or daughter’s study abroad experience, we will welcome the opportunity to respond directly to any questions or concerns you may have. Cornell Abroad’s phone at 607-255-6224 is answered weekdays throughout the year from 9:00 to 4:00. In the unlikely event of a student emergency, Cornell Abroad would want to be contacted as soon as possible. After office hours and on university holidays, one of us can be reached by phone through the Cornell Police at 607-255-1111.
