After successfully completing your application, you will begin to prepare for your time abroad. This process will prompt many questions. You will want to learn about health and safety abroad, your Cornell enrollment status, billing, academics abroad, travel, housing and much more. You will be excited, but may also be nervous and confused about what to do next. Cornell Abroad provides many resources to help you navigate this process.

Use these resources to prepare for your departure:

• Attend one mandatory administrative pre-departure orientation and one or more cultural orientation meetings. Click for schedule of meetings.
• Read thoroughly the student handbook which you will receive at your pre-departure meeting.
• Find out more about safety, security and health abroad.
• Learn about the process of cultural adjustment.
• Read country and topic specific travel guides found in the Cornell Abroad library
• Search libraries and the web on your own for more information.
• Talk with returned students.
